Nonprofits: DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies)
DOVIA is a professional association of directors and supervisors of various volunteer programs in Western Connecticut. DOVIA, is an acronym for Directors Of Volunteers In Agencies. Begun in 1986, the purpose of this group is to support the development of effective volunteer program managers in the health, welfare, recreational, civic, cultural and educational fields or any other organization which works with volunteers.
DOVIA's mission is to promote volunteer administration through workshops and educational programs for its members. It also offers supports for the development and improvement of volunteer programs b providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices. It is a great way to network, promote professionalism and enhance your management skils as you work with volunteers.
DOVIA actively works on volunteer recognition throughout the year, as well as an annual community recognition initiative. Membership is open to all volunteer managers. Annual membership costs $15.00 per person. Click here for the membership form.
